My first full week home was beyond my expectations. After having trouble writing (Heal First, Write Second – My Month of Writing), the week focused on rest and friends. As someone who was betrayed (Out with the Mold) in early adulthood, I have since paid close attention to the people I let into my life and heart. I am thankful to see that the friendships that I made after college, were the best friendships I have ever known up to that point. Some of those friends I haven’t seen in over two to eight years, those friendships are thriving even though we are miles apart. There is something to be said for friendships that continue like there was no time or distance. And my quote reflects this realization and my gratitude for the week.
“No distance of place or lapse of time can lessen the friendship of those who are thoroughly persuaded of each other’s worth.” – Robert Southey
