I’ve been wanting to add a new section to my blog for Tuesday, but I couldn’t think of anything that felt right. The idea hit me last night. Tune Tuesday. I love music. Music has been there for me to offer words of support, encouragement, motivation, understanding and helped speak to the truths that I struggled to find words for in my most complex moments.
This past weekend was completely exhausting. I felt physically drained, heartbroken, frustrated and weakened by the struggle and my consistent fighting. I feel like I am in the desert, dying of thrust and there is no water in sight. I’m crawling to reach the finish line that feels like a facade. When I went to sleep on Sunday I contemplated raising my white flag and throwing in the towel on this larger then life leap of faith. I also thought about Pandora and how the one thing that remained in her box was hope. I admired her, because hope was slipping though my hands and I was willingly getting ready to release it. When I woke up on Monday, one of the first images I saw on instagram was the image below.
Again I was provided with another sign to endure even more struggle for my hearts desire aka my vision for my future. It is my undying belief that my life and journey has a greater purpose that continues to provide me with enough energy to crawl military style to my destination.
The song that has been resonating with me a lot lately is Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’s “Learning to fly”. It speaks to the bumps and bruises we get in the process of taking our individual leaps of faith as we learn to fly into the space where we can ultimately soar within our great vision we have for our best self and best life. Hang in there.
Learning to Fly – by Tom Pettty and the Heartbreakers
Well I started out down a dirty road
Started out all alone
And the sun went down as I crossed the hill
And the town lit up, the world got still
I’m learning to fly, but I ain’t got wings
Coming down is the hardest thing
Well the good ol’ days may not return
And the rocks might melt and the sea may burn
I’m learning to fly (learning to fly)
But I ain’t got wings (learning to fly)
Coming down (learning to fly)
Is the hardest thing (learning to fly)
Well some say life will beat you down
Break your heart, steal your crown
So I’ve started out for God knows where
I guess I’ll know when I get there
I’m learning to fly around the clouds
But what goes up (learning to fly)
Must come down (learning to fly)
I’m learning to fly (learning to fly)
But I ain’t got wings
Coming down is the hardest thing
I’m learning to fly (learning to fly)
Around the clouds
But what goes up (learning to fly)
Must come down
I’m learning to fly (learning to fly)
(Learning to fly)
I’m learning to fly
(Learning to fly)
(Learning to fly)
(Learning to fly)
(Learning to fly)
