Tune Tuesday #20 – You Don’t Know What You Got Till It’s Gone

It’s Tuesday. I’m tired. Night time has been the worst for me these past three days because I get the worst sinus headaches, my throat kills me and my body aches. Two nights in a row, even though I was tired, I wondered why I was trying to go to bed because of how I was feeling.

Each day I feel better then the day before, but today I feel the best I ever felt. I am thankful to get more and more energy back. This month of focusing on my health is very interesting because I feel that I am on the opposite side of where I want to be. Each time that I have chosen to focus on a theme this year, to my surprise what I experienced in life, while meditating on the theme, caused me to see the topic at a dutch-angle.

A dutch angle is a camera move that puts the camera usually at a 45 degree angle from the horizon. (My series on Love and Beak-Ups are great examples of this realization.)

These past few weeks I have expressed gratitude for the basic gifts that life provides. Many of the every day gifts that we have in life are so much a part of our life that we can be blind to them. Since I don’t have the energy that I once had, at this moment, I have a deeper appreciation for energy. What parts of our every day life are we overlooking?

Today’s Tune Tuesday focuses on the things that we realize once we no longer have them.

Big Yellow Taxi – Amy Grant

They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot
With a pink hotel, a boutique
And a swinging hot SPOT
Don’t it always seem to go
That you don’t know what you’ve got
‘Til it’s gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot

They took all the trees
And put them in a tree museum
Then they charged the people
A dollar and a half just to see ’em
Don’t it always seem to go,
That you don’t know what you’ve got
‘Til it’s gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot

Hey farmer, farmer
Put away that DDT now
Give me spots on my apples
But LEAVE me the birds and the bees
Please!
Don’t it always seem to go
That you don’t know what you’ve got
‘Til its gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot

Late last night
I heard the screen door slam
And a big yellow taxi
Come and took away my old man
Don’t it always seem to go
That you don’t know what you’ve got
‘Til it’s gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot

I said
Don’t it always seem to go
That you don’t know what you’ve got
‘Til it’s gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot

They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot

I appreciate your words. Thank you!
