These past four weeks when I was sick, it was very challenging to take a comfortable deep breath and I could not practice meditation / meditative breathing or practice my voice exercises. Either my sinuses were heavily congested or my lungs were tight which caused me to cough.
I have asthma. When my lungs get tight, they get really tight. Having asthma for the majority of my life has made me very aware of my breath and lungs. Everything we do besides being alive, revolves around breath, from meditation, to singing, exercising to speaking. Breath is the first gift we are given at the start of our lives, we take it for granted and assume it will always be there, but we are never guaranteed our next breath. Give thanks for your breath this moment and all the moments that follow.
