“You’ve never been to Vegas?”

My friends ask that question each time I tell them, I’m from Arizona and I’ve never been to Vegas.

When I was girl, I was curious about the city, because of the movies and as I got older, I never cared to visit the city.

This past December everything changed, when I signed on to a feature that took me to… Vegas. Not only did I visit for the first time, I also worked there and lived there in a casino (it’s not the dream that you may picture) for almost two months.

I started the new year in a new city. One reason I took the job was because I wanted to start the year differently and shake my life up.

I have been back in Los Angeles for two weeks. While work in Vegas was tough for many reasons and Vegas started to wear on me; each time I reflect on it I have a fondness for the city and I feel my time there was comparable to “my month of writing“.

Vegas was the perfect distance between Arizona and California, which provided a neutral place away from all that was familiar to reflect on my growth, goals and direction. Once I settled into the city, on a spiritual level,  I started to see my life shift in all the ways I have wanted and needed. I am not sure if this shift would have been possible if I stayed in Los Angles.

Of all the realizations I had when I was gone, there are two that ignited and changed me and as a result I am glowing. I found my source of happiness within me. This may not be a big aha moment,  because we are often told that happiness lies within. I never tried to find happiness outside of me and I was already happy.

However, finding the source of happiness within is empowering.

Today’s tune is a well written song that resonates with a lot of people. I wanted to share this song for a few earlier Tune Tuesday’s, but I felt like the song has an essence to it that could only be cou0pled with the right occasion and my personal source of happiness is it.

Today take a moment to reflect on happiness. Is your happiness in a person or a thing which life can take from us. Or is your happiness within your heart and soul? Do you feel worthy of an indescribable happiness?
