Tune Tuesday #29 – The Love That Never Fails

I have been having a hard time lately.

Meditating on love has been beautiful and eye opening and it’s shifting me in ways I cannot describe.

There have been a few Tuesdays, since February, where I wanted to write a post, but I could not find a song that expressed what I wanted to say in relation to love. I could have written anyway, but I am stepping into an intangible experience that I do not have words, yet alone sentences to describe.

We are only touching the surface, of the deep ocean, of love.

In terms of music, we talk about love, unrequited love, love loss, the one that got away, romantic love and more romantic love. It appears that we only know or understand love in relation to others, in our experience and in theory. I feel that this could be a problem if we have never experienced good love or full love from someone else.

There are very few songs that talk about love in relation to our self. And many of those songs talk about embracing your appearance. Is this a sign of something within society that needs to be addressed?

When we are young we are told to love ourselves, but aren’t taught or shown how. Could that be a sign too? It isn’t until adulthood that we begin to stumble into the person we are meant to be and often times we find that we have become the person we were from the start. The difference is that we are no longer afraid to just be ourselves.

There is love all around us. It’s the air that we breathe, without thought, it’s silent yet constant and does not need recognition.

The love that is expressed to us by others i.e. people who embrace us regardless of our mistakes, poor decisions and our overall humanness is just a small example of the love that surrounds you.

The love that surrounds you is also within you. You just need to unplug the cork. When you find your source of love within, it never goes away. It’s a natural spring. From that point on, you operate from a different level of awareness and wonder why you accepted anything less then what you deserve across the board.

Today’s song is a song that talks about the pure love I describe. We have it as children, and may need to rediscover in our adulthood. This same love connects all of us which is why we must always lead with love.

“One Thing Remains”

Higher than the mountains that I face
Stronger than the power of the grave
Constant through the trial and the change
One thing… Remains [repeat][Chorus:]
Your love never fails, never gives up
Never runs out on me [3x]On and on and on and on it goes
It overwhelms and satisfies my soul
And I never, ever, have to be afraid
One thing remains

[Bridge:]
In death, In life, I’m confident and
covered by the power of Your great love
My debt is paid, there’s nothing that can
separate my heart from Your great love…
