I’m still reading Eastern Body, Western Mind by Anodea Judith. It’s starting to give me gray hairs because of it’s depth and honesty.
The chapter I recently read is on the fourth chakra aka Heart Chakra which is in the center of the chest. When the heart chakra is deficient someone may be antisocial, critical, judgmental, intolerant, fear intimacy and/or lack empathy. When it is excessive someone may be codependent, have poor boundaries, be clingy, overly sacrificing and/or demanding.
Looking at the state of affairs within our world, the world is lacking love. Real love. Unconditional love.
I meditated on love this past February, and I asked love to show me what I do not know about it and I am forever changed by what I learned.
Love is and has always been around us, but often we do not feel it or express it, to ourselves and to others.
Love is like air. We can’t see the air we breathe, but we know we need it to live and that goes for love too. It’s waiting to be invited into everyone’s life and relationships.
Often the love we express to others are reflections of the love that others have given us throughout our lives or reflection love that we see in popular culture. Love is so much more, so vast and deep.
“The opposite of unconditional love, is conditional love.” – Don Miguel Ruiz Jr.
There is no need to approach love from a deficient place, because it dwells within each of us. We need to be patient to access it within ourself first and love ourselves first. We are made from it and there is an endless supply for everyone.
Characteristics of a balanced heart chakra are someone who is compassionate, loving, empathetic, self-loving and/or peaceful.
To balance the heart chakra we need to let go of conditional love, forgive ourselves for our part in the termination of our relationships, and forgive others for hurting us.
Forgiveness can be hard, but it is more for the person who is doing the forgiving then it is for the person that is being forgiven.
If you have lost your connection to love: Believe in love again.
Today’s mindfulness quote is an affirmation.
Have a loving week.
