Tune #38 – I Can See Clearer

It’s Wednesday, and I am feeling so much music in my soul. Words alone can not express the song in my heart and the glow I am radiating these past few days.

I have expressed my joy, this Monday (on my personal Facebook page) and a friend asked if I was pregnant. The question surprised me.

My kind response was “women can be happy outside a [romantic relationship] and [motherhood].”

It’s okay to want those things, but that narrative of women and womanhood is inherited from generation to generation and systematically enforced by society. Like the ideas for men on manhood and masculinity, women find their narrative just as troublesome and limiting.  As a woman, woman of color, in addition to my voice story it is important for me to speak out against perceived ideas that do not apply me. If I remained silent the illusion may continue and cage me in to an idea that was never true.

It’s also important to remind each other that we are the authors of our own story and can write it in whatever way speaks to our heart and soul.

When I started facing my fears almost four years ago, I never knew what the journey would hold. While I am still on this journey this level of happiness and love was a wish of my heart that I did not know. I did not know happiness and love was this vast and deep, I know it now because I am connected to it and it’s flow.

I have expressed so much gratitude to my younger self for hanging in there when I wanted to quit taking the road less traveled, but the universe taught me how to let go and surrender. Each step of the way had hard lessons, countered by appeared courage, strength, teachers and mentors. Life is a beautiful balance that I am starting to deeply know.

This new territory has come as a result of hard, persistent work and asking the right questions in meditation and to my mentors. I can see clearer than opaque and my heart is at peace with the unfolding unknown. I now have full faith in my leap of faith.

Today’s Tune is a song that expresses the joy and peace is seeing life clearer.

May you see a little clearer today.

I Can See Clearly Now – Jimmy Cliff

I can see clearly now the rain is gone
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It’s gonna be a bright (bright)
Bright (bright) sunshiny day
It’s gonna be a bright (bright)
Bright (bright) sunshiny day

Oh, yes I can make it now the pain is gone
All of the bad feelings have disappeared
Here is that rainbow I’ve been praying for
It’s gonna be a bright (bright)
Bright (bright) sunshiny day

Look all around, there’s nothing but blue skies
Look straight ahead, there’s nothing but blue skies

I can see clearly now the rain is gone
I can see all obstacles in my way
Here is that rainbow I’ve been praying for
It’s gonna be a bright (bright)
Bright (bright) sunshiny day
It’s gonna be a bright (bright)
Bright (bright) sunshiny day
Bright (bright), bright (bright)
Bright sunshiny day
It’s going to be a bright (bright)
Bright (bright) sunshiny day
It’s gonna be a bright (bright)
Bright (bright) sunshiny day
It’s gonna be a bright (bright)
Bright (bright) sunshiny day

I appreciate your words. Thank you!
