Tune Tuesday #49 – This is Me

It’s Tuesday! I love todays song so much. I shared it everywhere, which made me think that I shared it here, when I had not. I am glad I waited, because sharing it now is more relevant.

In our current cultural climate there are so many people that want to be seen and heard. Being seen and heard is one of the oldest wants and needs of all humanity. While others make old claims, assertions and cases for why they are more important than others, it’s beautiful to see new voices emerge who want to be included and counted.

If there is anything that the divine wants you to know it is:

We are all on purpose. We are not mistakes, every ounce of our being from our skin, to our size to our heart is on purpose. We each have potential that is unique to us. We each have ability to create great things. We are all loved divinely even when we do not feel loved by our family, friends or community.

Today’s song This is Me is the anthem to the movie The Greatest Showman. The lyrics are some of the best motivational, self proclaiming lyrics that I have ever heard from all the positive, motivational songs that I have enjoyed since I was a child. This specific video is a fan video of the song, which speaks to how connected we are with our inner yearnings because of how many people this song has reached, spoken to and touched. It’s poetic to see people from various backgrounds proclaiming full acceptance of self, fearlessly.

When you stand up to be counted you are in a vulnerable place, but to do it anyway is brave and courages and should be noted.

Today and always may you embrace or step closer to embracing the phrase “This is Me” and be in full acceptance of all that you are, as you are here and now.

Love Stephanie – XO

This is Me
I am not a stranger to the dark
Hide away, they say
‘Cause we don’t want your broken parts
I’ve learned to be ashamed of all my scars
Run away, they say
No one’ll love you as you are
But I won’t let them break me down to dust
I know that there’s a place for us
For we are glorious
When the sharpest words wanna cut me down
I’m gonna send a flood, gonna drown them out
I am brave, I am bruised
I am who I’m meant to be, this is me
Look out ’cause here I come
And I’m marching on to the beat I drum
I’m not scared to be seen
I make no apologies, this is me
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh, oh
Another round of bullets hits my skin
Well, fire away ’cause today, I won’t let the shame sink in
We are bursting through the barricades and
Reaching for the sun (we are warriors)
Yeah, that’s what we’ve become (yeah, that’s what we’ve become)
I won’t let them break me down to dust
I know that there’s a place for us
For we are glorious
When the sharpest words wanna cut me down
I’m gonna send a flood, gonna drown them out
I am brave, I am bruised
I am who I’m meant to be, this is me
Look out ’cause here I come
And I’m marching on to the beat I drum
I’m not scared to be seen
I make no apologies, this is me
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh, oh
This is me
and I know that I deserve your love
(Oh-oh-oh-oh) ’cause there’s nothing I’m not worthy of
(Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh, oh)
When the sharpest words wanna cut me down
I’m gonna send a flood, gonna drown them out
This is brave, this is proof
This is who I’m meant to be, this is me
Look out ’cause here I come (look out ’cause here I come)
And I’m marching on to the beat I drum (marching on, marching, marching on)
I’m not scared to be seen
I make no apologies, this is me
When the sharpest words wanna cut me down
I’m gonna send a flood, gonna drown them out
I’m gonna send a flood
Gonna drown them out
Oh
This is me

Isn’t it crazy that standing up to be counted puts us in a vulnerable place? I yearn for a world in which it doesn’t . . .

I appreciate your words. Thank you!
