Happy Tuesday!
I hope this day finds you healthy and in good spirits.
I have been thinking about you and the overall community a lot lately. In the states, we are experiencing our first few days of social distancing. While people around the world have been experiencing it a few weeks to a full month longer.
If you live alone, you may feel really isolated without the everyday interaction that you had in normal circumstances. If you don’t live alone you are in a position that asks you to navigate and re-arrange your life in a way that may never crossed your mind.
We may all be longing to share physical space with a co-worker, friend, or loved one and at the same time wonder when we will see them in person again.
Even though we cannot give hugs to those that we care about, due to the health need for social distancing, there are digital ways we can close the social distance gap.
In the Resiliency Workbook: Bounce Back Stronger, Smarter and with Real Self-Esteem, Nan Henderson states that studies on resilience indicate that helping another person, brings us joy and can help us increase our resilience.
My invitation for you today, is to reach out to a loved one via text or email and send them a kind note and let them know they are on your mind. Or even better, pick up the phone or video chat with them. You can even wine online with them (aka have a glass of wine and talk virtually).
The song, “Shower the People,” by James Taylor, offers sound advice that echoes my invitation to you, this Tune Tuesday, to digitally close the social distancing gap.
Make it a great Tuesday and remember “Shower the people you love with love, show them the way that you feel. Things are gonna be much better if you only will.”

Shower the People by James Taylor
Even though you know it wasn’t written for you.
Tell me, how can you stand there with
Your broken heart ashamed of playing the fool?
One thing can lead to another; it doesn’t take any sacrifice.
Oh, father and mother,
Sister and brother, if it feels nice, don’t think twice,
Just shower the people you love with
Love, show them the way that you feel.
Things are gonna work out fine if you only will do as I say, just
Shower the people you love with love, show them the way you feel.
Things are gonna be much better if you only will.
Tell me, what you plan to do with your
Foolish pride when you’re all by yourself, alone.
Once you tell somebody the way that you
Feel, you can feel it beginning to ease.
I think it’s true what they say about
The squeaky wheel always getting the grease.
Better to shower the people you love
With love, show them the way that you feel.
Things are gonna be just fine if you
Only will what I’d like to do to you.
Shower the people you love with love, show them the way that you feel.
Things are gonna be much better if you only will.
You’ll feel better right away.
Don’t take much to do, sell you pride.
They say in every life,
They say the rain must fall, just like pouring rain, make it rain.
Make it rain, love, love, love is sunshine, oh yes,
Make it rain, love, love, love is sunshine. Everybody, everybody.
